I Can Statements Literacy Learning Progressions contains ‘I Can’ statements for seven aspects of the Literacy Learning Progressions. The aspects included are Creating texts,Handwriting, Punctuation, Grammar and Spelling . Use these ‘I Can’ statements as ‘Assessment for Learning’. Plot where your students are at and set goals and devise teaching and learning for ‘where to next’. The ‘I Can’ statements can also be used to set visible learning goals for students. Cut and paste from the word documents to make it relevant to your class.
This resource is a lesson plan, worksheets and Notebook for the book, The Bear Who Wouldn't Share by Jonathan Allen. It outlines two simple activities to follow a shared reading of the story.

The worksheets contain a phonics, vocabulary, handwriting and writing component. Students need to be introduced to the digraph and vocabulary containing the sound. They can then complete the worksheet by matching the vocab to the corresponding image and then write the word in the ‘word shape’ box. Students form the letters that represent the sound in a large ‘rainbow writing’ format and a smaller format on the lines provided. The final line on the worksheet is space for students to use the vocabulary to write a simple sentence.
The worksheets are differentiated. The support worksheet does not require students to engage in the more controlled fine motor handwriting on the lines. Students could be extended by adding more words containing the sound around the ‘rainbow writing’.
This editing checklist is designed for Kindergarten so they can be introduced to the editing symbols used in older years. This allows a whole school language when editing and proof-reading writing.

It supports Set 3 phonics worksheets by the same author.
Firstly, the new grapheme for the sound is introduced with a concurrent handwriting focus. Vocabulary for the graphemes is then presented. This vocab matches the worksheets. There is space for other words which contain the sound/grapheme to be brainstormed and recorded. Finally a modelled sentence using the vocab can be constructed on the line provided.
